JEMAA EL FNA SQUARE

Marrakech is the most visited city by tourists thanks to its lively atmosphere like Jemaa El Fna square which is the international symbol of the city of Marrakesh since its developed in the eleventh century.

Jemaa El Fna square is located in the center of the city of Marrakesh not far from the famous mosque of Koutoubia, it was so named because it was a place of justice where sentences were publicly enforced in the 12th century.

 Jemaa El fna offers an exceptional concentration of popular Moroccan cultural traditions that are expressed through music, religion and various artistic expression for example dancers, story-tellers, henna tattoo,water-sellers in fringed hats and the famous Gnaoua dancers.

The population of the region and from even further afield converges on this square where the frenetic commercial activity and entertainment opportunities attract crowds well into the night, it lined with restaurant offering varieties of food and drinks, shops, hotels and public building the square of Jemaa El fna itself is meeting point and creative hub for languages, music,art and literature.

El Koutoubia mosque:

l Koutoubia was founded by Almouahad Abdelmunim in 1147 the construction of the Koutoubia began in 1141 and it took them 40 years it completed  by Yaqub Almansour around 1195 Al Koutoubia mosque is the largest mosque in the city, located in the southwest district medina of Marrakech ,Its minaret 226 ft in high can be seen by 25 kilometers away, this tower is the highest building in Marrakech,

El Koutoubia architecture and ascetic decoration reflect the art of the Almohads by using a rose color, the Windows are curved and simplicity of design varying geometric arch motif topped by arrow and metal orbs. El Koutoubia is surrounded by large gardens which makes it one of the most beautiful monuments in Morocco.

The Koutoubia minaret served as a model to the Hassan II In Casablanca,Hassan tower in Rabat and Giralda of Seville.

The mining of the name El Koutoubia mosque, mosque is the center of religious in islam its the place where muslims pray, and El Koutoubia is meen in arabic Booksellers because it was surrounded by bookstors.

While the mosque is off-limits to non-muslims visors,but it’s allow to wander around the mosque seeing the ruins and the lovely garden  Muslims must show respect for a mosque by removing their shoes.The muezzen calls to prayer five times a day the most day for pray is Friday. The prayer hall can accommodate 25,000 worshipers

El Bahia Palace

Marrakech is a great and rich city in Morocco because of its traditions and monuments. El Bahia Palace for example is one of the monuments enlisted as a more than a usual landmark, its history began when the Alawids regne Morocco, the grand vizier Si Moussa who was the leader of the government’s affaire ordered to build the palace in the 1800 s, and a few years later the palace was developed by the son of Si Moussa Abou Ahmed from 1894 to 1900, the reason why Abou Ahmed decided to expand the palace of El Bahia it’s because of he was married four wives and he wants their life in expanding accommodate.

The meaning of the name of El Bahia is “Shining” in Arabic, El Bahia Palace is located in the middle of Marrakesh medina accuretly in the southeastern part of the Medina the palace been acreage has eight hectares. 

The steps of construction of the palace El Bahia are as below, the first build was the grand riad called courtyard of honor its surface area is between 50 and 30 meters decorated with marble surrounded by 80 rooms, then the small riad positioned in the center of the square-shaped garden full of a variety of plants, the small courtyard with a simple design its walls painted with white color, the fountain in the middle surrounded by four rooms for the four wives of Abou Ahmad, the large garden, and in the end, he’s wives apartments. El Bahia Palace was an Islamic architecture by used zellige,  Marble, the beautiful motif decoration with Plasterers.

Location: Gueliz 

Another legend located in the middle of Marrakech city, the town of art, culture, and nature, there is an exceptional garden called Majorelle Garden “Jardin Majorelle” in french, positioned in Gueliz.

The garden was established by Jacques Majorelle; he was an artist of French origin. On his first trip to Morocco, specifically Marrakesh city he fell in love, and for that reason, he decided to settle in the medina of Marrakech.

The Majorelle garden was established by Jacques Majorelle began in  1923,  the garden is full of various plants from five continents.

In 1931 the designer Paul Senior propose to build a villa in the center of the garden,  he appended a tall basin. Jacque Majorelle considered the first-floor villa as a studio for painting.

In 1980, Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé were interested in the garden when they found it, the garden  was empty of visitors even though it was opening, that’s why  Yves Saint-Laurent decided to renovate it and made it the most beautiful garden in the city of Marrakech, now the Majorelle gardens are the best destination of tourist.
